Strength foundations
This block is not about a number on a bar, although the number goes up. It is written around five things people in their fifties and sixties tell me they have quietly stopped doing: carrying two bags, taking stairs two at a time, getting off the floor, reaching the top shelf and sleeping through the night after a heavy day.
We train three days a week, two of them with me, and every session has a carry in it. From week five we add a step-up loaded heavily enough to be honest about what a staircase asks of you.
The people in this block are usually the ones who tell me they have left it too late. None of them has.
